This article will detail how to import CVA summary data into external applications like Excel and Crystal Reports for the purpose of analyzing and graphing this data.
WHAT IS CVA SUMMARY DATA?
This is an hourly summary of IP sorted data with these details:
NOTE: All times are in milliseconds and the timings in fields #9-14 are averages for the hour. The times in fields #15-18 are the highest timings for the hour.
WHAT ARE THE SUMMARY DATA FORMATS?
It’s available in CSV (Comma Separated Values) or XML (Extensible Markup Language).
NOTE: It’s highly recommended that only the XML data be used. ONLY use CSV if your visualization program will not accept XML. CSV data is harder to work with, is sensitive to format changes and requires creation of templates or import filters etc. XML is self documenting and does not require any templates or import filters.
HOW DO YOU ACCESS THIS DATA?
There are two methods; On-Demand and Real-Time.
You can download directly from the CVA Dashboards:
These web links can be used as the data source for Excel and programs like Crystal Reports. It has the advantage of not requiring a manual export and will update automatically
STUDIO BUILD LINKS
AWS BUILD LINKS
NOTE: The URL you use to access your CVA web interface will tell you which version of the CVA you have. Studio will be at port 5480 and AWS will be at the default of 80.
HOW TO IMPORT XML DATA INTO EXCEL
This short video shows how easy it is to import XML data into a blank Excel worksheet with no template and generate a graph in less that 2 minutes. The same method would apply to any data visualization program that allows a URL as the data source.
